With Sampler Five Plus,we present a mini-library of the ordnance effects which have been recorded
over the years for use on certain Telarc recordings. You will find these special bonus tracks at the
conclusion of the musical portion of this Sampler(beginning with Track 21)

About the Playback Level of the Sound Effects

All the sound effects were recorded at absolute maximum level on our digital recorders. Even though
some of the effects may not SOUND particularly loud,they all contain a great amount of acoustic
energy;the acoustic energy of this material uses up available recording level quickly.

Additionally,the sound effects may not seem loud because they are all recorded in large acoustic
spaces with the mikes some distance away,in order to protect the mikes from damage. This sense
of space creates the illusion of less level.

The enormous low frequency energy content of the cannons and various artillery requires prodigious
amplifier power. Likewise,the pistol and rifle shots,explosions and gunfire have tremendous high
frequency spikes on their attacks which also place great demands on amplifiers. When amplifiers
go into clipping,the resulting distortion is sent down the speaker lines as excessive voltage and can
easily destroy speakers. Proceed with care!
