當Kim Richey於1995年發表個人第一張同名專輯『Kim Richey』時，除了AMG音樂網站予以四星推薦外，大多數的歌迷其實是把這個美麗而舒緩的聲音給遺忘的；直到Kim接續祭出的『Bitter Sweet』(1997)、『Glimmer』(1999)、『Rise』(2002)，張張專輯皆獲AMG音樂網站超過四星級以上的高分評鑑後，她那恬靜中帶有深度、卻又不徐不緩的美好音色才被全美各大鄉村電台熱播。

　　俄亥俄州或許聽來不是一個孕育音樂的溫床，不過要是你有個開唱片行的阿姨那就另當別論。從小就泡在滿屋子都是音樂產品的Kim Richey無所不聽，從Janis Joplin到The Lovin’ Spoonful皆屬Kim兒時口中哼唱的曲調；1995年加入Polydor音樂廠牌發表首張同名專輯時，有人將她的聲音和慣於在歌詞中敘事的風格拿來與夏恩柯文/Shawn Colvin比一比；1999年遇上製作人Hugh Padgham並發表『Glimmer』專輯，一張更趨現代鄉村樂之路的作品於焉成型。

Kim Richey's Yep Roc debut album is a smart, sensual understatement that may be one of her best. The dozen songs themselves show that Richey's still dreaming up fetching melodies that arc and bend in unexpected ways, and still discovering fresh angles from which to articulate matters of the heart.
