现代爵士SAX手Ed Calle出生在委内瑞拉的加拉加斯，他们全家于1966年移居美国迈阿
密，他本人也就读于Miami大学。由于他父亲认为自己的儿子在音乐上很有天赋，所以
很快Ed Calle就得到了一把tenor saxophone， 并把自己全部的业余时间都用在了SAX
的练习上，且确定了自己以后把音乐当成自己的职业。

离开学校后，早年他曾经为明星级女歌手Gloria  Estefa、拉丁流行团体Miami  Sound
Machine等担任过伴奏，后来还参加了Julio Iglesias和Bob James的巡回演出，并和许
多艺术家一起同台演出过，如小号手Arturo Sandoval、女歌手Vanessa  Williams以及
Frank  Sinatra等。或许是因为他拉丁血统缘故，在的音乐中，你能很明显地感觉出拉
丁音乐元素的存在，而爵士、拉丁和流行一直是他音乐中的主旋律。

这张《Sunset Harbor》是他1999年，由著名爵士厂牌Concord Records发行的一张专辑，
虽然不是他最为经典的一张作品，但是绝对值得我们去倾听，因为在我眼里Ed Calle的
作品始终都是张张精彩。

Ed Calle has been performing in the  Miami  area  for  the  past  25  years.
In  general, Calle is known for  playing Latin  jazz,  and  his  tenor  sax
has  graced  the  work  of  Gloria  Estefan  from  the  early  days  of her
Miami  Sound  Machine. However,  on  Sunset Harbor  (Concord  Vista), Calle
decided to understate the  overt  Latin  aspects  of  his  playing  without
losing the  music’s  complexity. "I  didn’t  want to  make  a  record  that
people  in  Iowa  would  think  was funny  or  far  out," Calle  says.  "My
focused goal as a musician is to appeal  to  as  many  people  as  possible
without selling  out  or  playing  music  that  is  overly  simplistic."
