2008年是Bossa Nova音乐诞生50週年的纪念，这个由巴西的中产阶级音乐家所创造的音乐浪潮儼然成为巴西这个国家在足球与咖啡之外，最骄傲的代表，它对世界各地，不同类型音乐的歌手产生了很大的影响，在2008年夏季所推出的3CD精选大碟《Platinum Collection Bossa Nova》为乐迷精心挑选Bossa Nova音乐浪潮中留下重要印记或是深受此种音乐浪潮影响的巴西艺人与乐团的唱作，绝对是体验这个别具异国情调，洋溢著性感气息，营造著度假气氛的音乐的首选。

1958年，在巴西首府里约热内卢的南部地区，吉他手João Gilberto透过一种撷取自森巴音乐的吉他节奏与一种温柔和缓，毫无抑扬顿挫感觉的歌声演唱融合在一起的方式灌录了一首由Antonio Carlos Jobim与Vinícius de Moraes所合写的歌曲〈Chega de Saudade〉，Gilberto对於这首歌曲的詮释在1950年代后期与1960年代初期的巴西流行音乐注入了一种新鲜且有异於当时巴西所流行的 Post Bop乐派与前卫爵士乐的类型音乐，进而带动了一种全新的音乐浪潮，这个音乐浪潮将原本就具有力的巴西节奏与爵士乐跟古典音乐的和声自然的融合，全球乐坛将这个音乐浪潮取名为Bossa Nova，从美国传统流行乐巨星Frank Sinatra到法国当代音乐大师Henri Salvador，从爵士音乐巨擘Stan Getz到新浪潮乐团Nouvelle Vague，从传奇女伶Ella Fitzgerald到当代女声小野丽莎、Stacey Kent，都持续不断的传承著Bossa Nova的音乐风采。
