爱尔兰六孔哨笛大师Joanie Madden（乔妮·梅登）于1965年2月3日生于纽约；她的父母是爱尔兰移民，一开始她学习小提琴和钢琴，但是只有六孔哨笛才能引起她的兴趣。当她十几岁时就被称为世界上最好的六孔哨笛演奏者了，到1984年她赢得了全爱尔兰的六孔哨笛锦标赛的最高奖，而以前还从来没有一个美国人得此殊荣。
