This is a very cool CD with remixes from three different Prem Joshua CDs as well as three previously unreleased tracks. Unlike most remix CDs, the original artist, Prem Joshua in this case. is very much present in the project. The other primary player is Maneesh de Moor who adds danceable yet sensitive grooves and electronica arrangements through his use of Fender Rhodes, Moog, Korg and Roland synths, bass and groove programming. Joshua, as usual, plays sitar, bamboo flutes, dilruba, swarmandel and adds his voice to the vocal choruses. Sandhya Sanjana takes the vocal lead on three tracks. With Indian fusion recordings, sometimes the sacred aspects of the culture are emphasized a little too heavily making the use of Western beats seem inappropriate. Other times the "fusion" elements overpower the Indian influences, causing them to be lost. The music of Prem Joshua is an example of a perfect marriage of these two worlds - danceable, intelligent electronic music that revels in the complexities of Indian music. Manish Vyas, Massimo Carrano and Michael Millfeld also add their instruments, and new artist Sudha lends her vocals (check out her new "Planet Love" CD), and additional vocals are by Sandhya Sanjana. The results are a winning blend of acoustic Indian instruments with chant vocals and a pulsating energy that links the elements together with an enticing flow of tempos, pauses and full-on propulsion.
