專輯介紹

蓋希文(George Gershwin)，美國派偉大作曲家，由於音樂長期為歐洲所主導，使得美國音樂歷史並不長久，而確立美國國民性格音樂的先驅者，正是他，出生並不富裕， 沒有很好的音樂基礎教育，也反映出作品中並非遵循古道結構嚴謹，在曲式與管絃樂法的創作有些薄弱，但一直與爵士樂為作曲基礎的他，一直希望能夠譜寫出一部 屬於「美式樂派」的交響形式的樂曲，不斷學習各種作曲技巧，作品常以動人抒情的旋律，帶有憂鬱藍調的爵士樂曲切分法節奏，加上古典傳統形式，並採用大量的 民族音樂，各種多元的流行風格元素，獨創的手法，嶄新的風格成為名副其實的美國傳奇派大師。
伯恩斯坦(Leonard Bernstein)，風靡於40-80年代之間的傳奇音樂大師，被譽為美國現代音樂最佳代言人，他是教育家、文學家、音樂家、更是電視主持人和演員！他 熱情又奔放的舞台魅力，讓他與當時指揮巨星卡拉揚齊名，並以25歲之姿，臨時受名成為紐約愛樂當家音樂總監，轟動全球，帶領紐約愛樂進入新的音樂領域和境 界，從美國到歐洲皆可看見他指揮的蹤影，奧地利更於1977年舉行「伯恩斯坦音樂節」來表彰對音樂藝術的成就，至今仍是紐約愛樂的精神象徵，本張專輯便由 他帶領紐約愛樂與哥倫比亞交響樂團，演出蓋希文與他自己的經典作品，一同來體驗道地美式風格。(摘自博來客書店 )
