【Jazz & Fusion】Hidefumi Toki 2007年专辑《Toki And Samba Friends》 (MP3/320K)
Hidefumi Toki for RCA Japan from 1981. Another monster slab of Jap jazz samba fusion from the early 80s - nearly every cut a winner but"Maracana" and the manic "Morena" are pick of the bunch- all killer no filler!Recommended.
Dusty Groove on the case: Saxophonist Hidefumi Toki works here with his "Samba Friends" -- a great group of mixed Japanese and Brazilian players, all grooving in the style you'd expect from the title! The sound is a wonderful blend of Japanese fusion and Brazilian jazz -- headed by Toki's excellent work on soprano and alto sax, and augmented by electric piano from Helio Celso, guitar from Yoshiro Nakamura, drums from Armando Araujo, and percussion from Francis Silva -- plus a bit of vocals from Lelia Maria, who brings a nicely sunny sound to the set! The feel is almost like some of the best Brazilian- influenced jazz sets from the west coast in the 70s -- handled with a quality that's never cheesy, and a groove that's always breezy.
Limited expensive cd reissue from Japan or it's hunt out a pricey vinyl original.
