约书亚:

          神人摩西带领以色列人脱离法老的辖制，离开埃及，经过红海，渡过旷野，直到迦南的门槛，以后安息于摩押地的昆斯迦山顶（申卅四1、5）。摩西死后，神选立约书亚为以色列民的首领，继续摩西的工作，将百姓带进迦南地（书一1～2）。为什么约书亚能蒙神重用，成为百姓的首领？
          约书亚曾经战胜亚玛力人
          当以色列民来到旷野的利非订时，亚玛力人来与以色列人争战。约书亚受摩西之差派，领兵出阵，摩西在山上祷告；神的帮助和二人的合作，结果将亚玛力人打败（出十七8～13）。
          亚玛力人是神的的仇敌，这是预表由魔鬼而来的（出十七16；加五16～17）。我们必须借着祷告，及圣灵的帮助，治死，才能得神的重用（出十七11；罗八13；提后二21）。
          约书亚曾作摩西忠心的帮手
          约书亚是摩西的好帮手，常常跟随摩西（出廿四13）。他很忠心，经常只有他一人不离开会幕（出卅三11）。
          如果我们在神的工作上是忠心负责的（路十六10；林后八22），必能得神的重用。
          约书亚有坚强的信心
          当摩西差遣十二个探子在迦南地窥探时，十个探子都害怕敌人，并且报告恶信（民十三31～33）；但是他不怕仇敌的高大、强壮，他勇敢的勉励百姓，当靠神进军迦南（民十四4～10）。
          信心坚强，这是每个为神重用者必备的条件（来十一27；书一6～7）。
          约书亚是心中有圣灵的
          约书亚曾接受摩西的按手，得了智能的灵之充满，使他工作有能力，百姓也乐意听从他（民廿七18～20；申卅四9）。
          得圣灵充满，这是为神工作者，必须领受的；也唯有被圣灵充满，才有能力，为神作大工（路廿四49；徒一8，四8，六5、10）。


　　△约书亚正一百一十岁就死了，葬在他地业的境内（书廿四29～30）。
