作曲家、吉他手兼歌手 Dan Fogelberg, 1951 年 8 月 13 日生于伊利诺州 (Illinois) 的 Peoria。 十四岁开始学习钢琴, 后来又进一步学习吉他和作曲, 为以后往歌坛发展做准备。1971 年毅然放弃即将到手的伊利诺大学艺术系学士学位, 开始他的歌唱事业, 在民谣界闯出自己的一片天空后,移居加州, 并追随 Van Morrison 到各地参加巡回演唱会。而引起名制作人 Norbert Putnam 的注意, 1973 年与哥伦比亚唱片公司签约, 发行的第一张专辑 "Home Free" 成绩并不理想。随后转加入 Epic 唱片公司，第二张专辑 "Souvenirs" 于 1975 年推出后, 佳评如潮, 不但获得乐评家的赞赏, 也获得商业上的成功。 1980年推出「Phoenix」專輯，讓他成為紅遍全球的歌手，其中的單曲「Longer」更以優美浪漫的抒情樂風及歌詞，成為市場的長銷歌曲。他是美国歌坛最富浪漫气质的诗人歌手。他的作品具有明朗和谐的旋律及温柔缠绵的歌词，使得Fogelberg的歌具备了一切使人喜爱的条件。 Dan Fogelberg的风格横跨了乡村、民谣和摇滚。人如其歌的丹佛柏格後來將關注焦點放在生態環境議題，並在2003年推出最後一張專輯「Full Circle」， 一年後，因診斷發現罹患前列腺癌不得不放棄巡迴演唱計畫。2007年12月16日因前列腺癌病逝於緬因州的家。
