Josh voice, first off, is strong, clear, and very deep. There’s not much layering or overdubbing to make him sound good. His voice is a gift that makes these other new country singers (who, in my musical opinion, constantly croon like they are in desparate need of Phillips) look like a joke. The songs Josh chose to sing are not your usual cookie cutter country, either. The arrangements are rich with emotion and dynamic sound, and the lyrics give you something to think about if you’re tired of hearing about girls and booze or listening to Shania’s 100th rendition of how two people can love each other.
