　　自从《银城大决斗》（Silverado）获得奥斯卡最佳配乐提名后，Bruce Broughton似乎成了西部片的配乐专家，欢快流畅的旋律反复变奏，其后的Tombstone，Homeward Bound，Lost in Space的配乐也差不多走其西部片配乐的套路。
　　Roughing It也可当作是西部片，讲述少年马克·吐温的西部淘金时光，主题旋律简单流畅，琅琅上口，甚至让人怀疑他就是照着Homeward Bound的乐谱改过来的，不过Roughing It显然更熟练些。就像Rachel Portman的Nicholas Nickleby似乎是她前面许多作品的大杂烩，不过人家“自我抄袭”或者应该说是自我完善的更成熟了，听起来还是非常过瘾。Roughing It的唱片共有38个曲目，对一张电影配乐来说太多了，独立聆听的价值不是很高，都是一些零碎地小片段，大多是主题Nervous Preparation的各种变奏，希望Broughton出精选集的时候可以重新编一个suite，也不枉Intrada将该唱片作为特别收藏系列之一发行。
