阿拉尼斯·莫里赛特(Alains Morisse-tte)是90年代美国乐坛最抢眼、走红最快的一颗新星。她凭借95年推出的专辑《Jagged Little Pill》(破碎的小药丸）横扫全美的唱片店和校园，其热度只有玛当娜可比。此曲一举夺得第38届葛莱美4 项大奖：年度最佳专辑，最佳摇滚专辑，最佳摇滚歌曲，最佳摇滚歌手。这位出生于加拿大渥太华，年方二十一的女歌手的迅速崛起的确令人赞叹。1991年，1992年， 曾在加拿大出版过两张专辑 《Alains》(阿拉尼斯）和《Now Is The Time》（现在是时候了），可是没有得到热烈的回应。于是Alains来到了美国闯天下。她说“这样我就向成功迈出第一步。当时我对自己并没有很大的信心，现在看来这似乎并没有必要,是音乐赋予我全部,即使如今让我做一名四处飘泊的流浪艺人，我也愿意。”来到美国洛杉矶之后不久就结识了曾为Michael Jackson和Wilson Phillips制作过颇为成功的专辑的流行音乐制作人Glen Ba-llard，在他的帮助下，她完成了《Jagged Little Pill》这张专辑的录制。Alanis Morissette的叙事体和声和MTV开创了女性摇滚的新时代，她的出现为处于低迷时期的美国流行乐坛注入了一股旺盛的生命力。
