Tori Amos1963年出生于美国。两岁半开始弹钢琴，四岁在教堂唱诗班演唱，五岁收到巴尔地摩Peabody音乐学院的学习邀请，成为该学院有史以来年纪最小的学生。因为不服从学院课程的安排，11岁时对古典乐失去兴趣。此后迷恋上摇滚乐。

这个诡异精灵的红发女人看似平静温婉，实则充满尖锐思想。Tori Amos作为近几年以来活跃于另类摇滚坛的著名的女歌手之一，与 Bjorke相比，她显得更为成熟，同时也有其独特的个性与深刻的内涵。21岁时，Tori Amos被自己的歌迷性侵犯，并受到死亡威胁。这次遭遇对Tori的影响颇大，她开始关注女性心理、女权。

Tori Amos的钢琴造诣很高，但是并不会像恐怖海峡一样（歌曲本身有时会被吉他掩盖），而是会觉得钢琴的声音和她自己感性的声音结合得非常好，甚至会觉得钢琴已经融进了她身体内的每一个细胞。
