Green day－Boulevard Of Broken Dreams



Green day乐队在美国另类乐坛的后“nirvana”时期崛起，实际“jam pearl”之后最有影响的乐队。本质上，“green day”是punk复兴者，复活了急速而简练的，3个和弦的punk流行歌曲。尽管他们的音乐并没有特别的创新，但他们用《dookie》奖70年代末的punk带给新的年轻的一代。“green day”未能保持住他们的成功——《dookie》卖出800万张，而它的下一张之卖了前者的四分之一，但是他们的影响甚为深远，是他们打开了美国新朋克，朋克金属和第三次ska音乐浪潮之门。

“Green day”身处南加利福尼亚州地下punk音乐圈中。同年好友billie joe armstrong(吉他手，主唱）和mike dirnt（贝司手，原名mike pritchard）在他们14岁的时候于加利福尼亚州罗德奥就组建了“sweet children”乐队。1989年，乐队招募了鼓手al sobrante，更名为“green day”。同年，乐队独自发行了他们的第一张EP《1000 hours》，得到南加利福尼亚州硬核朋克音乐圈里的好评。不久以后，乐队签约当地的larry livermore的独立公司lookout,并更换鼓手为john kiftmeyer。乐队的首张专辑《39/smooth》在第2年发行，该专辑仅用一天录制完成。此后乐队进行了一次国内巡演，kiftmeyer由于想完成大学学业而离队，乐队更换了新鼓手tre cool，他12岁时就受雇于larry livermore的lookout。

在整个90年代初期，“green day”不断扩大自己的追随者，1992年专辑《kerplunk》的发行更为之注入了能量。此时，armstrong在语言上对任何另类以外的东西的鼓吹都避而远之。他就什麽是当代美国所需要的答记者说，“少点体育，多点绘画；少点乔.蒙大拿，多点凡高！”乐队还与许多人合作，如“pinhead gunpowder”和“screadhing weasel”。armstrong还与另一只热门乐队“rancid”合作了《radio,radio,radio》。

《kerplunk》在地下的成功引起各大唱片公司的兴趣，乐队最后决定签约reprise。《dookie》，“green day”的首张大公司专辑发行于1994年春。多亏mtv电视台对单曲《longview》的支持，该专辑成为大热门。《dookie》在夏天继续升温，第2首单曲《basket case》在美国现代摇滚榜上5周高居榜首。同时，乐队在“五德斯托克94”上露面，更扩大了专辑的销量。第4首单曲《when i come around》在1995年初的现代摇滚榜上蝉联7周冠军。《dookie》最终在美国售出800万张，全球销量大1000万。他还获得1994年格莱美最佳另类音乐表演奖。

1995年夏，“green day”为电影《angus》的配乐“J.A.R”又获现代摇滚榜冠军。同年秋，乐队迅速发行了专辑《insomniac》。专辑开始走势不错，入美国榜第2，1996年初售出200万张。但是，没有一首单曲像前者那样成功。同时，“green day”以筋疲力尽为由突然取消了欧洲巡演。乐队开始休息并创作新的歌曲。但可以预言，“green day”以其“三分钟朋克”歌曲开创的市场还会维持并发展下去。1997年10月，乐队又出半了新专辑《nimrod》，虽然专辑减少了一些流行朋克的成分，但是快速，迷人的旋律仍然是他们音乐的核心。
