如果将Usher去年的风光看成是黑人青年的绝地大反攻，抢回先前让Justin Timberlake霸占好一阵子的R&B新王子宝座，只怕这战争不但没有休兵迹象，还将愈演愈烈。后者自偶像乐团超级男孩转型单飞，惊人展现他模仿Michael Jackson的绝学，与本来便很有Michael Jackson接班人姿态的Usher 自然形成一种竞争态势，没想到Usher这“New King Of R&B”尚未坐热，年方18岁的Mario随即出手呛声，以新单曲〈Let Me Love You〉创下一亿八千五百万人次的听众收听纪录，成功刷新了Usher〈Yeah〉的1亿7千两百八十万人次，荣登乐史新高。
2002年前正式出道，单曲〈Just a Friend〉立刻在流行/节奏蓝调榜上掀起一股小旋风，首张同名专辑亦顺利卖出金唱片佳绩。潜沉多年后，这位如今18岁，俨然已是新世代黑人型男的少年再次出击，新专辑《Turning Point》一如其名，除了有石破天惊的新单曲〈Let Me Love You〉一举打出新天下之外，该曲制作人、亦是Beyonce / The Roots幕后制作大将的Scott Storch与年仅24岁的Hip Hop/R&B抢手制作新才子Ron Feemstar(Dr. Dre、Eminem与Mary J.
