ABBA的故事开始于1966年的6月，当Bjorn Ulvaeus第一次遇见Benny Andersson，当时，Bjorn是当红民谣合唱团Hootenanny Singers中的一员，而Benny则在60年代瑞典首席流行团体The Hep Stars担任键盘手。1969年春天，Bjorn与Benny遇上了两个女人，她们不但成为两人的未婚妻，还组成了ABBA的另一半。Agnetha Faltskog自从在1967年发行首张单曲后，已成为一个成功的歌手，她和Bjorn在1971年7月结婚。Anni-Frid Lyngstad也就是知名歌手Frida，她的演唱事业起步得比Agnetha早一点，原本是挪威人的她，年纪很小时就搬到瑞典，她和Benny直到1978年10月才步上红毯，谁也想不到这两对夫妻竟然就组合成史上最成功的合唱团体—阿巴合唱团。

    70年代成军，80年代解散，90年代依然传唱的ABBA，柔美的和声，风格化的表演，ABBA在西洋流行乐坛的经典地位，不仅影响了诸多后生晚辈；如王牌合唱团（Ace Of Base）、罗克塞合唱团（Roxette）、阿巴少年组（A Teens）等，ABBA现象更是持续延烧，丝毫未被流行乐坛快速的新陈代谢所淹没。
