关塔那摩是位于古巴东南部关塔那摩湾的一个半岛，自1903年到2000年一直是美国海外军事基地,是1962年古巴核危机的焦点之地.如今是关押塔利班战俘和“基地”组织成员和恐怖嫌疑犯的集中营。
乐曲Guantanamera是一首流传很广的古巴民间舞曲,经古巴的革命诗人，古巴独立战争的领袖何塞•马蒂填词成为歌曲后广为流传，歌曲热情洋溢,兼有哀愁但忧而不伤.来自洛杉矶的“矶鹞”三重唱组于1966年根据“美国民歌复兴之父”彼特•西格尔和黑格托尔•安古洛合作改编，并保留何塞•马蒂的词意写下的英语歌词首次录唱了这首歌.
