约翰·列侬（John Lennon）于1940年出生于英国利物埔,英国著 名摇滚乐队“披头士”（The Beatles，也译做“甲壳虫”）成员、摇滚史上最伟大的音 乐家，诗人、社会活动家。”

    在早年随披头士的辉煌之后，列侬于60年代末脱离乐队个人发展 。个人发行的经典专辑有：1970年的《John Lennon and Plastic Ono Band》,1971年的 《Imagine》,1973年的《Mind Games》，1974年的《Walls and Bridges》等。在列侬短 暂的一生中，他还同妻子大野洋子一起一直努力倡导和维护着世界和平。可惜的是，在 1980年12月8日，列侬在其住所门外被患有精神疾病的歌迷马克·大卫·查普曼(Mark David Chapman)枪杀，与世长辞。

      “Imagine”是列侬离开beatles后传唱率和知名度相当高的一首歌，它宣扬和平与爱，是一首反战歌曲。在滚石评出的“100首最伟大英文歌曲”中排名15。

      简单的旋律，通俗的歌词，如泉水般清澈而深情的唱腔，淋漓尽致地展现了他诗人般的内心。尽管歌词的内容带有乌托邦的色彩而与当时乃至当下的现实主义格格不入，然而这么简单的一首歌还是被奉为了伟大的歌曲。当我们静静地聆听这首歌的时候，也不会因为它所表达的思想遥不可及去否定它动人的旋律，否定这一美好的愿望。
