生于苏格兰的格拉斯哥，15岁就加入了传统的爵士乐队，在60年代开始她的演唱生涯，如果九十年代初她没有参加当时很著名的“爱丁堡爵士音乐节”，没有从格拉斯哥当地的一个小乐团出来，那我们可能就没有机会发现她的声音了，幸好，有了这个音乐节，还有Frank Sinatra的慧眼识珠，终于让我们可以听到她如此柔润、抚慰心灵的歌声。
