Kingston Trio是第一個將民謠音樂轉換成通俗音樂的代表,彈奏著空心吉他與斑鳩琴,唱著和諧的民謠歌曲,
一位史丹佛大學畢業生Dave Guard與兩位好友:Bob Shane與Nick Reynolds是這個團體的主要成員, Bob 與 Nick 都是來自夏威夷,
他們兩位在學生時代就開始在一些派對表演, Bob彈奏吉他,Nick則彈奏斑鳩琴.後來在Bob介紹下,Dave加入,
但是這個團體並沒有因此成形,他們一起表演一陣子後,Bob就返回夏威夷協助父親的運動器材生意了.隔了好一陣子,Bob重新歸隊,
幾次精采的演出下來,終於讓他們取得唱片合約.他們開始巡迴演唱,並在58年準備好發行第一張專輯.

「Where Have All the Flowers Gone」，是一首美國民歌史上的經典。
很多喜愛西洋老歌的朋友，往往以為它是彼得、保羅與瑪莉三重唱（Peter, aul & Mary）的作品，
而對排行榜比較有研究的人，則會說它是京士頓三重唱（Kingston Trio）在1962年唱紅的暢銷曲。

這首歌真正的原唱者，是傳奇性的民歌元老宗師比特席格（Pete Seeger），而這首歌是他在1956年譜成的作品，
比特席格有著「美國音叉」的別名，有人甚至懷疑美國人是否有資格擁有這樣一位國寶級的偉大藝人。

歌詞的內容則是取材自一本大戰時代的俄國小說「悠悠頓河水」（And Quiet Flows The Don）。
Where Have All The Flowers Gone可以說是60年代最重要的「抗議」民歌經典之一。
這首歌道出了戰爭的荒謬和輪迴，人們永遠不能從中學得智慧。一直到現在，這還是彼得，保羅與瑪莉每場演唱會必唱的「招牌」歌曲呢！
Peter, Paul & Mary的反對聲音是極其溫和、優美，歌詞那份自然流瀉而出的知性，而涵意卻如鋼鐵般堅定不移。
Joan Baez（瓊拜雅）是嬉皮年代以反越戰出名的民歌手。抱著她的吉他到處宣揚反戰與自由思想
曾經分別以英文與德文錄唱 Where have All the Flowers Gone（花兒哪裡去了？）
