    這首曲子本身曾是一部電影的配樂，電影也算是一部好片；這裡姑且先聊聊曲子，影片擇日再談。
這首曲子很多人都聽過，但卻說不出確切的名稱，這是Rory Dall O’Cahan所作的一首曲子，原名為Londonderry Air。之後Frederick Edward Weatherly為另一首曲子寫下了Danny Boy的歌詞，偶然間卻發現Londonderry Air的曲子和Danny Boy的詞非常契合，於是捨棄原曲，改以Londonderry Air的曲配詞，形成了今日傳唱風行的Danny Boy。
    詞曲中均帶著濃濃底哀愁，當歌詞翻譯成中文後，又被冠上了一個充滿思鄉情愁的曲名「秋夜吟」，相信很多朋友國高中時曾經唱過。
    原始的英文歌詞中「the pipes are calling」，隨著船螺聲漸漸遠去，不管是親人、情人還是朋友，即將天各一方，但仍有相見之期，雖離愁濃濃，卻仍有重逢之日。
中文歌詞中的「啊…母親…你愛兒女，更愛祖國，為了我們勝利的明天，引導著我們奔向旅程」形容在前線的戰地兒女思親鄉懷，更令人動容。
    雖然「祖國」、「勝利」等字眼在承平的今日略顯八股，但若在戰時吟唱，想必會引人落淚。
    美國華納電影公司在1990年拍了一部二戰空戰電影Memphis Belle，敘述駐英美國陸軍第8航空軍首架執行滿25次轟炸任務名機Memphis Belle機組最後一次任務的故事。
    雖然人物與故事過程與原機組完全不同，僅僅是用Memphis Belle之名，這部片子在國內也不太受重視（除了航空軍事迷知道以外），但整部片子故事鋪陳不錯，配樂更是一流。
    全片以名本曲Danny Boy旋律作為配樂主軸，架構出整個故事，同時遵循歌曲由來，將配樂還原以Londonderry Air之名提出，有配詞者則以Danny Boy名之。
    整首歌曲再改編後煥然一新，不同的電影片段不同的編曲法引人進入時而哀愁、時而緊張刺激的故事情節。
    國內片商引進本片時對本曲的翻譯更是下了功夫，不但將「秋夜吟」的中文版歌名找出來配上去，還把整首中文歌詞找出來，在劇中演員演唱時於字幕翻譯出來，讓全片更令人感受到戰地前線兒女們的情懷，可謂有畫龍點睛之效。
    只可惜，本片的原聲帶國內雖有引進，但舖貨點卻很少，跑了好多地方才找到一片。
