美国赫赫有名的Edmonds家族可以说是无人不知，无人不晓了.六个兄弟中与babyface最神似的胞弟kevon在家排行老四.与兄长们的才华横溢相比kevon则显得比较内敛.
虽然从小kevon性格腼腆,不擅长表达,但在这样一个音乐家族的熏陶下时不时也会显露出对音乐的灵性.从小听着S.Wonder,G.knight,The Temptations...等一些黑人艺人的歌曲,那种classic soul的风格很深的影响着他.在高中时期一个很偶然的机会下,他牛刀小试了首<<For my own satisfaction>>有着不俗的表现,并加入了当时成立的唱诗班.但也经常会表现的很害羞,后来进入印地安那大学后对音乐的雄心开始渐渐迸发出来.加之兄长kenneth&malvin对他的鼓励和关怀,成年后的kevon逐渐表现出音乐上的才华和领悟!
终于在1985年与兄弟们组建了家族乐队after 7乐队成员除了malvin&kevon更是请来了曾是LAFACE唱片公司的大老板之一L.A RAID的侄子Keith mitchell.早在学生时期Keith mitchell便是kevon的大学同班同学,两人更同时选修了The I.U. Soul Revue课程.这样组建的乐队自然非常的有默契,加上babyface等一些制作人的全心制作.乐队的实力不可估量.同年发表的单曲<<heat of the moment>>荣登1989年的夏天公告牌第五名,随后另一首<<reay or not>>更是持续了两周billboard冠军,也使得他们的第一张专辑有着150万的销量拿到一个白金.此后的两张专辑更是达到了颠峰状态!
纵观after 7的成绩kevon确实是功不可没的,尽管哥哥malvin在音乐表现中更显得成熟老练,但是kevon依旧是乐队的灵魂人物.他那独特的温柔与高亢的嗓音贯穿着一曲又一曲的高潮,动情之处让听者心中充满柔情!
