Katie Melua--The Closest Thing To C



年一开春就立刻在歌坛绽放星光的19岁少女katie melua，出生于东欧前格鲁吉亚苏维埃社会主义共和国，她 用了三个单词来形容自己的音乐“bluesy，folky and chilled”。katie&nbs p;melna首支单曲《the closest thing to crazy（几 近疯狂的感觉）》一发行就缔造英国每周单曲榜top10的成绩，初登场专辑《call off the&n bsp;search（停止飘泊）》前些日子才跃居英国亚马逊销售榜冠军，同时也是indie专辑榜冠军，并一举挤下人气天后黛 朵（dido），击退诺拉·琼斯（norah jones），荣获六周英国金榜后座，成为英国2004开春迄今最畅销 专辑。katie melus已经在英国歌坛掀起新的音乐浪潮。
  katie melua 8岁时移居到北爱尔兰的贝尔法斯特（belfast）， 5年前又举家迁移到英国，1年前在表演艺术学校brit school上课的katie被知名制作人mike&nbs p;batt挖掘（这位资深制作人近期的作品包括棒辣妹和陈美的专辑），于是和独立厂牌/经纪公司dramatico签下5张唱 片合约。小时梦想从政或是朝历史学家方向发展的katie，原先并没对写歌和音乐怀有远大志向。她15岁那年参加电视歌唱比赛， 演唱mariah carey的《whitout you》，获得冠军；在这之前，她只想象自己是能带给世 界和平的人。2年前，katie开始写歌，她自称在音乐方面受到皇后合唱团（queen）、琼妮·米歇尔（joni  mitchell）、鲍勃·迪伦（bob dylan）、埃拉·菲茨杰拉德（ella fitzgeral d）和印度音乐以及爱尔兰民谣等多类乐风的影响。在这锋芒初露的实力派新人katie melua身上，我们可以看到 即将燃烧的无限可能。
  刚过20岁的katie拥有一种独特的嗓音，如果硬要把她当成「英国版norah jone s」，还不如说她更接近eva cassidy。多变化的歌声和情绪起伏刚好和专辑要呈现的老蓝调和jazz调调的歌 曲吻合，而她擅长的吉他也有莫大发挥，加上mike batt的多首创作，使得《call off&nbs p;the search》专辑原创味道浓厚，其中她翻唱英国蓝调英雄john mayall的64年经典 曲〈crawling up a hill〉流畅的演绎和歌声的掌握都让人惊艳不已；到了俏皮的 〈my aphrodisiac is you〉，katie又化身成一位柔媚歌姬，把歌词中的 复古性感飙到极限，而不管是著名经典〈learnin the blues〉或是randy n ewman的旷世名曲〈i think its going to rai n today〉，katie的版本同样不遑多让。当然，也有如首支单曲〈the closest&nbs p;thing to crazy〉这般浪漫至性的恋曲，以少女的口吻娓娓道来，加上弦乐的编曲，那种举棋 不定的不安自然征服人心。我特别喜欢的是〈blame it on the moon 〉，复古的感觉，如果搭配一个落寞的爱情电影画面，会挺棒的；〈tiger in the ni ght〉则有份清新的告白。
