這個樂隊的前身就是原美國著名樂隊涅盤（Narvana），原樂隊的靈魂人物Kurt Cobain在94年4月用手槍自殺而解散，原鼓手,大衛·格咯爾(Dave Grohl)組成這個樂隊並擔任主唱，到今年已十年，1995年的同名首作，順利確立了他們在全美青少年心目中的地位，并且于隔年的MTV音樂大獎上奪下一座年度最佳搖滾錄影帶大獎。2002年8月正式進入名人堂之列。2002年底專輯《One By One》打頭陣的單曲”All My Life”一出，立刻攻下全美所有的流行搖滾電臺排行，連英國佬都無法招架其魅力，硬是空降排行NO.1。並在2003年45屆格萊美凴《All My Life》獲最佳硬搖滾縯奏獎， 2004借《One By One》拿到了最佳搖滾專輯。現在在綫播放的這首《Best of You》 已在Modern Rock單曲榜上達一個多月，從5月8日上榜就進入前6名，后一直是前4名，上週＆本週已在排名第3位～
