当年以
王靖雯为名出道的王菲终以翻唱这首同名粤语版而一夜成名。原唱者JodyWatley，自小深受歌后DianaRoss影响，首次登上表演舞台就是跟名列史上百大最伟大艺人，也是她的教父JackieWilson，1977年开始成为流行乐团Shalamar主要成员之一，而因此崭露头角，她更代Shalama参加了BandAid，与U2的Bono、乔治麦可、乔治男孩、大卫鲍伊、史汀等眾多大牌歌手一同录制「DoTheyKnowIt’sChristmas」。1984年，Jody离开Shalamar被MCA签下后，单飞生涯更加亮眼，1987年的首张同名专辑拿下告示牌专辑榜#10、节奏蓝调专辑榜冠军，并在美国得到白金唱片销售的认证，不仅如此，Jody在1988以首张同名专辑赢得了葛莱美音乐奖“最佳新进艺人奖”，1989年的专辑“LargerThanLife”声势依旧，成就了告示牌热门舞曲榜、R&B嘻哈单曲榜双榜冠军代表作「RealLove」，由大卫芬奇执导的该歌曲音乐录影带更获MTV音乐录影带大奖7项提名！
