Album Description

Julia Thornton is one of the UK’s leading exponents of the harp and percussion
and after cutting her teeth on the Bryan Ferry 2000 tour, released the album ’
Harpistry’ in her own right. Put out on EMI to critical acclaim, Julia has now
decided to move to her own label, allowing herself more artistic freedom. The
new album Julia herself explains; " My choice of repertoire on this record I
liken to one of my favourite recordings of another great harpist. My parents
bought me a copy of ’Pieces from my Childhood’;a collection of beautiful works
for the harp performed by the brilliant Marisa Robles. I loved the idea of
selecting music that has a special place in ones heart. Pieces or songs that,
as I was studying the harp with my teacher, Daphne Boden, I grew to love like
old friends." It is an exhilarating piece of work and deserves to throw Julia
Thornton right up alongside the likes of Vanessa Mae and Myleen Klass in the
recognition stakes.
